Legacy Christian School Hosts Local Author -- 9/3/10
Middle school students at Legacy Christian School in Noblesville had the chance to learn from a local author who has published several novels. Larry D. Sweazy, Noblesville, visited with Legacy's sixth, seventh and eighth graders as part of Mrs. Debbie Mansfield's language arts class. Sweazy answered student questions, explaining how he finally had his first writings published and what is involved in writing a novel from idea to publication. The award winning Sweazy specializes in writing novels set in the old west, and he has a new book, The Badger's Revenge, coming out next spring.

Legacy Christian Named A Top Private School -- 9/1/10
Legacy Christian School in Noblesville has received yet another accolade. Indianapolis Monthly magazine has named Legacy among the top private schools in the region. The list utilized data from the Indiana Department of Education, including ISTEP scores, class size and attendance. Information was gathered from Hamilton, Marion, Hendricks, and Johnson counties. Legacy Christian offers classes from preschool through eighth grade, and recently moved to a new location on Greenfield Avenue in Noblesville.

Legacy Christian Celebrates First Day in New Location -- 8/12/10
It was a very special first day of school for students and staff at Legacy Christian in Noblesville. After a summer filled with the hard work of moving into a new facility, the school opened smoothly and with lots of smiles. Now located across from Stony Creek Elementary, Legacy offers classes from preschool through 8th grade. Principal Chuck Chapman greeted students at the school's first official assembly before the school day began.
Legacy Christian School Passes Zoning Hurdle -- 7/13/10
The Noblesville Board of Zoning Appeals has given a greenlight for Legacy Christian School to begin the upcoming school year in its new location. Concerns about potential traffic problems during school hours prompted the board to extend conditional approval of Legacy's operation at 1399 Greenfield Avenue, across from Stony Creek Elementary. The highly traveled stretch of road will be closely monitored in an effort to keep traffic flowing well during morning and afternoon drop off times. Legacy Christian is a non-profit organization, and is independent of any church affiliation. While currently leasing the property on Greenfield Avenue, school leaders hope to purchase the building within the next year and make it Legacy's permanent home.

After a seven month search, Legacy Christian School in Noblesville has hired a new principal. Chuck Chapman will take over at LCS beginning on July 1, 2010. Chapman and his family are moving to Noblesville from Florida, but they are mid-westerners at heart, originally from Ohio. Chapman's experience in administration and teaching is extensive. He earned a B.S. in education from Bowling Green and an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Christian University. Chapman also attended the Administrator Development Academy at the University of Cincinnati. "My family and I are very excited to move to Noblesville. When we visited, we just fell in love with the town." Chapman's hiring comes just as Legacy moves into its new facility at 1399 Greenfield Avenue, across from Stony Creek Elementary.

Legacy Christian Moves Into New Facility -- 6/12/10
Legacy Christian School has moved into its new facility in Noblesville. The private school, offering grades preschool through ninth, is now located at 1399 Greenfield Avenue, across from Stony Creek Elementary. The move, a year in the making, was a huge undertaking and dozens of volunteers came out to help make it happen. “What a joy to see so many parents and kids come together to serve in this way,” said interim principal Jeannie Watson. The newly hired principal, Chuck Chapman, will begin on July 1. Work will continue all summer to get individual classrooms ready for the beginning of school in August.

Building Committee Members
- Bill Butler, Committee Chair: Bill is in product development. He is married to Danelle, and they have two daughters who attend LCS.
- Mike Lawson: Mike is a structural engineer. He is married to Jeanette, and they have twins who attend LCS.
- Troy Mullins: Troy is a home builder. He is married to LCS 1st grade teacher, Shannon Mullins. They have two sons, and one attends LCS.
- Lana Thompson, Committee Recording Secretary: Lana is LCS’s Asst. to the Principal. She is married to Sterling, and this is her eighth year at LCS.
- Rachel Young: Rachel is the music teacher at LCS, although on maternity leave this school year. She is married to Andy.
The above group has started the process of planning God’s new school. We are in the process of reviewing all options for the school, and we would appreciate your prayers in helping direct us to build the school that God wants for Christian education in Hamilton County.
